Kurilpa Beggars Banquet

"Join in with the Kurilpa (West End and surrounding suburbs) community for dinner in the street at the third annual Beggars' Banquet! While the street is still closed after the Kurilpa Derby, marvellous cooks and beggars alike will descend on Boundary Street for a mighty feast.

The Beggars' Banquet is the ultimate community potluck. Set up a dinner table with your neighbours or friends (complete with your most decorative dinner party accoutrements), bring a home-cooked dish, and leave a spare place or two at the table to welcome new friends. Don't forget to wear your Sunday best - this will be a special meal!

Here's how it works:

1. Volunteer to host a table catering for 6 diners
(see below for details) . OR

2. Nominate to be a beggar and be linked up with someone's table

2. Hosts are RESPONSIBLE for everything at their table including:
- Registering your interest with the support team before the event.
- Bringing a table and six chairs to the designated holding area in
the week before the event then setting up on the night.
- Cooking and bringing dinner.
- Providing a table cloth and place settings (including cutlery etc)
- Cooking and bringing dinner.
- Inviting friends and strangers to join you

Sounds demanding? Don't worry ...

3. A team of supporters is AVAILABLE TO HELP with:
- Locating tables and chairs for your use
- Printing complimentary tickets for your table
- Distributing excess tickets to beggars (friends you’ve yet to meet)
- Finding someone else to host a table with dinner that you provide
- Entertainment, publicity and coordination
- Transporting your furniture to the site
- Setting up and then packing away furniture on the night

Schedule for the evening:

5pm - 6pm: Set-up
6pm - 9pm: Dining and dinner music
9pm- 10 pm: Dancing in the street
10pm - 11pm: Pack-down

If you would like to get involved as a host, a beggar, or a member of the support crew, post a message on this page, or contact Adrian: [email protected] or 0411 707 395

PLEASE NOTE THAT IS IS AN UNLICENSED EVENT. Anything other than food that looks like it contains alcohol will be confiscated and returned to its former owner at the end of the evening."
