Brisbane City Council has proposed two new footbridges, from West End to Toowong and from West End to St Lucia (both to cater for pedestrians and cyclists). The council is currently seeking feedback from elected representatives and local residents about the preferred locations of these two bridges.
Come along to this free public forum to learn more about what’s proposed and to give your feedback on whether we need both of these bridges, and exactly where they should go.
Where: King George Square (undercover area)

This will be an opportunity to hear from elected representatives, as well as spokespeople from local residents’ associations, transport experts and other stakeholders. The program will also include space for Q&A, small group discussions and an open mic segment.
We believe that local residents should have more meaningful control over the big decisions that shape our city. As elected representatives, we want to make sure that before we provide official feedback to Brisbane City Council, we have considered all perspectives, and have access to as much data as possible about residents’ preferences. We need your help to make the right choices! In addition to identifying which of council’s proposed locations for each bridge have the most community support, we’re also asking what the specific benefits and goals of the projects are, and whether we definitely need both bridges.
We’re hosting this forum in the middle of the CBD to ensure residents from both sides of the river can access the discussion, and to encourage people from right across Brisbane to participate in this important conversation about major city-shaping infrastructure. Being mindful of covid, we’ve decided to gather in the covered outdoor space at the northern end of King George Square, on the raised podium overlooking the square.
This space is wheelchair accessible and seating will be provided. If you have a hearing impairment and would like access to an Auslan interpreter, please email [email protected] and we’ll arrange one for the session.
Local community groups will be invited to host small information stalls at this forum. If you’re part of a community group with a strong interest in urban planning or transport and would like to take part, feel free to email [email protected] or call our office on 3403 2165 to discuss.

This also assists us in understanding the demographic make-up of participants and interested residents.
