Many residents have told us that River Terrace at Kangaroo Point feels unsafe for pedestrians and cyclists, and that it’s too hard to cross the road to get to the Clifftop Park.
But council is proposing to redesign the intersection of Main St and River Terrace to add another southbound turning lane into River Tce, which may reinforce its use as a high-speed corridor for through-traffic.
I believe that instead, we should be slowing down River Terrace to 40km/h and installing more pedestrian crossings to improve access to the park.
Please come along to this meeting to understand what council is proposing, share your thoughts on what should happen instead, and strategise about how our community can advocate to council and the state government for River Terrace to become a more pedestrian-friendly environment.
We'll be meeting at 5pm on Saturday, 7 December, in the park beside the intersection of Main St-River Tce, just to the north of Bar Spritz.
