No Phones, No Phascists - monthly event details + updates

No Phones, No Phascists is a recurring free-entry, all-ages, counter-cultural community event in Holland Park West...

This page will be updated at least monthly to confirm details of the next event and to announce any last-minute changes in case of wet weather etc. (please share the link to this page with anyone who doesn't use social media).

We're gathering in person to share music, art, radical ideas and good company. Join us for a free community event organised outside the confines of techno-capitalism in a backyard in Holland Park West.

Meet new people. Catch up with old friends. Soak up some poetry. Maybe even dance a little.

At a time of rising fascism, it's crucial we create and maintain free spaces where we can converge face-to-face and build community.

The 'no phones' theme isn't a hard-and-fast rule (it's ok to have a phone on you - just leave it in your pocket or bag as much as possible), but we encourage everyone to be present in the space and resist getting sucked into your device.

Details for next event:

When: Friday, 26 June 2026, 4pm to 8pm (sometimes runs a little later)
Where: Understory, 30 Joachim St, Holland Park West

Line-up includes: Andy Paine, Clover Love, Noisy Nige & Joka, poetry by Ahvela River

BFU Groundings: from 5:30 to 6pm we'll feature a Brisbane Free University discussion about the relationship between fascism and queerphobia

Also...

  • Open mic from 4pm to 5ish (first in, best dresssed) – PA system and basic drum kit provided (instruments can plug directly into PA if required)
  • Art-making and zine-making under the house
  • Home-cooked vego meals and warm chai available (gold coin donation) – please BYO bowl, cutlery and mug if you can

Nearest bus stop is Birdwood Rd at Wellers Hill (a short walk through Joachim St Park). More frequent bus services run via Logan Rd or Holland Park West bus station.

Most parts of the venue are wheelchair accessible but unfortunately the toilet is not DDA-compliant (we're working on this).
